Destinations at Rügen
Rügen is with 926m˛ the biggest and probably the most beautiful island of Germany. Therfore you can not only enjoy summer holidays on Rügen, but also the rest of the year, because Rügen convinces with it`s beauty and variety the whole year round. From northern point “Kap Arkona” to the southern point “Palmer Ort” are there many sights and destinations to admire. The width of Rügen is 40km and the north - south dimension is about 50km. The cliffy coast with it`s Bays and small islands like Hiddensee, Ummanz and Vilm provide plenty of peace and quiet to relex.

The Königsstuhl is the most famous chalk mountain situated in Jasmund`s national park. It is 118m high and the secund highest mountain on the island. The highest mountain is the Pikberg with a hight of 161m. Not far away is the Victoriasicht and the Wissower Klinken. On the photograph you see one of the natural beaches on the south coast. |
Enjoy yourself swimming in the Baltic sea, go fishing, hiking or bikeriding through the beautiful
countryside. You will have lot`s of fun visiting the "Königsstuhl", the miniatures park in Gingst, the
Störtebecker festivals, a ride on the "Rasender Roland" or a visit to the interesting Oceanographic Museum
in Stralsund.
Besides you can relex on sandy beaches in Binz or on the naturally kept beaches in the South.
Also you have got the possibility to join a tour by ship from the harbours in Sassnitz, Sellin or Lauterbach.
During this tour you will have the best chance to enjoy the beautiful nature of Rügen.
Shopping possibilitys can be found in the country town of Bergen, which is situated in the centre of Rügen, or
also in Stralsund.
The major towns on the island Rügen are: Bergen Putbus Sassnitz and Garz. Well-known bathing resorts are: Binz Sellin Baabe, Göhren and Glowe. When approaching our island, you will through Stralsund and over the new Rügen bridge.
